Braunschweig will have to do without head coach Daniel Scherning. The 40-year-old was suspended by the German Football Association (DFB) after his red card in a league match.

What happened?

The club had initially appealed the decision, but it was rejected. The suspension is now final.

Why is this important for Braunschweig?

"Daniel did not behave offensively or disrespectfully towards the referee, but solely because of entering the field of play, he saw the red card", said Braunschweig's sports director Benjamin Kessel.

What's next?

Scherning had been sent off by referee Felix Prigan in the 1-1 draw against Darmstadt 98 last Saturday. In the upcoming home game against SpVgg Greuther Fürth, he will be replaced by assistant coach Marc Pfitzner on the sidelines.
