Braunschweig has signed a new striker, Jan Urbich, who joins on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 21-year-old center-forward will move to the Oker for a year and brings presence and goal threat. Jan Urbich made his first steps towards professional football at SV Wehen Wiesbaden until U 17. Via the U 19 of FV Biebrich 02 and Kickers Offenbach, the striker moved to Mönchengladbach in the 2025/2026 season. In the Regionalliga West, he played a total of 20 games for the U 23, scoring 14 goals and preparing five more. Other clubs were also interested in Urbich, but Braunschweig was able to convince him with its offense. Braunschweig's sports managing director Benjamin Kessel says: „We have clearly defined the qualities we want to add to our offense for the upcoming season. With Jan, we are signing a striker who was in high demand on the market and has already impressively demonstrated his goal-scoring ability in the Regionalliga.“ Jan Urbich himself says: „I'm really looking forward to my challenge at Eintracht. The 2. Bundesliga is the next step for me, which I absolutely wanted to take. The conversations with the officials quickly convinced me, because I felt that my style of play fits well with the team here.“ The striker also brings experience from the Bundesliga, where he made three appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach. Rouven Schröder, Borussia's Head of Sports, says: „Jan has absolutely deserved his promotion to the pros with strong performances and an impressive goal-scoring record in the first half of the season in the Regionalliga.“ So Jan Urbich will be an important part of Braunschweig's offense. The club also has a purchase option for the striker, who is under contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach until June 30, 2029. But the focus is now on the upcoming season, in which Braunschweig will fight for promotion.
