A trial in Braunschweig begins over years of abuse in a care home. Four accused are responsible for a cruel treatment of seniors. They allegedly sedated care home residents with medication and locked them in with high-security bed frames. The accused will appear in court on Thursday (9:00 am) and are accused of being responsible for several years of unacceptable conditions in a care home in Langelsheim in the Harz. The charges include mistreatment of vulnerable individuals, dangerous bodily harm, deprivation of liberty in a particularly serious case, and professional gangsterism. The charges are directed against three accused aged 51 to 63 years, and a 59-year-old woman is accused of aiding and abetting. Over 50 hearing dates have been scheduled for the massive trial. According to this plan, a verdict could fall in late January 2027. Until the final conclusion of the trial, all accused are presumed innocent.
